Are Citizenship Applications Being Fast-Tracked?

While there has been no official word from the USCIS on whether citizenship applications are being expedited, my many years of experience say that they are.

An average citizenship application can take between 4 - 6 months to be processed before a citizenship interview is scheduled. All of my recent filings have been scheduled within just 2 - 3 weeks! I have not seen citizenship applications processed this quickly in all my years of practicing immigration law.

Why is this happening? I cannot say unequivocally why the USCIS is processing citizenship applications so quickly. I can only conjecture that it is tied to voter turnout for the upcoming election. The more people that are citizens, the more people that can vote!

Whatever the reason may be, if you are a green card holder this may be the time for you to file for citizenship! Nobody knows how long this quicker processing time frame will last. Naturally, the more people that apply, the slower the processing will become.

Being a citizen has many advantages, click here to see the many reasons why it's important. However, during this contentious election season there are few advantages greater than the ability to vote.

If you have had any trouble with the law please consult with an immigration attorney before you file.
